General Description:
Ribbon is largely maroon in color save for a pair of thin white bands inboard of the edges. The medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II on February 2nd, 1993.


Award Criteria (as detailed by various official sources):
Awarded for "conspicuous acts of valor in the face of enemy hostility". Can be awarded to both Canadian military members as well as allies.
